I started taking these and now I'm orange. Why?
Answer: Beta carotene is a vitamin A precursor, and converted into vitamin A as needed. The upper limit, an amount that can safely be taken daily without adverse effects, for pre-formed vitamin A is 3,000 mcg (10,000 IU) for adults over the age of 19. This upper limit applies to pre-formed vitamin A, however, and not beta-carotene. High intake of beta-carotene does not result in vitamin A toxicity. Three capsules of UltraNutrient provides 3,750 mcg of beta-carotene, the amount found roughly in 7.5 carrots. For some people, consumption of beta-carotene can result in a mild orange skin discoloration called carotenemia. This is a benign condition, not associated with health concerns [Lascari AD. Carotenemia. A review. Clin Pediatr (Phila). 1981 Jan;20(1):25-9.]. However, as you have identified this sensitivity, you may wish to decrease your dosing of UltraNutrient to 2 capsules per day, or choose a multivitamin with a lower level. -

Aren't these supplements contain a very high doses of vitamins?
Answer: Yes, but I believe all of the high dose ones are water soluble. So you just pee out what your body doesn't use. -

What is the vitamin d3 derived from?
Answer: The Vitamin D3 is sourced from cholesterol of wool fat (lanolin). -

Why is magnesium and calcium so low?
Answer: Calcium and magnesium are large molecules. The serving size would increase substantially if more calcium and magnesium are added to the capsule. We recommend taking a separate calcium and magnesium supplement if recommended by your healthcare practitioner to support your nutritional needs. -

Is this third party tested ?
Answer: Pure Encapsulations has a rigorous testing policy. Each raw material is tested for identity, potency, a complete panel of solvent residues (~32 compounds), heavy metals (lead, mercury, arsenic and cadmium) and microbial contaminants. All plant-derived compounds/herbal extracts are also tested for a complete panel of pesticide residues (~70 compounds). Fish oils are also tested for oxidation, PCB’s and PCB-like compounds, dioxins, and furans. In addition, Pure also tests for any specific contaminants known to be potential adulterants; for example, grapefruit seed is tested for several potential preservative contaminants. This testing is done through high-quality, third-party independent laboratories, such as Eurofins and Covance, that are considered the gold standard in the industry. In addition, Pure is NSF-certified. NSF is an outside organization that inspects products and the manufacturing facility for compliance with the FDA GMPs. Pure Encapsulations’ products, as well as their manufacturing and testing procedures, are thoroughly inspected twice annually by the NSF to ensure compliance with the FDA GMP's.
