The Fender Smolder Acoustic Overdrive Electric Guitar Pedal is a versatile pedal that can add an overdrive effect to your music. Measuring 6.9 x 5.4 x 2.8 inches and made in China, it has a 9VDC jack and draws 54mA. It does not come with a power supply, but you can use a 9V battery or an adapter. The foot switch on the unit toggles between clean and smolder effects. The tone and drive are awesome, but the switch is too noisy and pops through the amp and PA. Many customers have had a great experience using this pedal. One user found it to be the first thing that sounds convincing, while another used it to overdrive a Martin acoustic for lead while looping chords. The separate knob for feedback control is tremendous, and the blend knob is a blessing. Meanwhile, another user discovered that the pedal needs a clean output and managed to create their own "clean" channel out using a parallel loop configuration and switch on the stage, which made the acoustic come through beautifully. There were also some negative reviews. One user had to replace the pedal twice, the first one lasted for a year but the overdrive burned out, while the second unit bought right out of the box didn't work. Another user wished it sounded better and wasn't fuzzy. However, some users have said that it could be used for 12-string guitars as well as electric ones.
