"Walker" is a strange and satiric biographical portrayal of William Walker, a Nashville-born doctor/lawyer/journalist, who led soldiers to Nicaragua, making himself the president of the country. Featuring a mix of modern day anachronism and comedy like the filming style of Herzog, this film requires a certain degree of knowledge on the history of Latin American interventionism and military filibusterism. If you are familiar with these topics, then this movie will undoubtedly be a fun and mindblowing experience, if not, it remains a watchable character study. Ed Harris delivers a great performance, which makes the movie worth watching. However, viewers who are looking for a straight-forward historical biography or story may not enjoy it. With the addition of a great Joe Strummer score, the film deserves a cult audience.
