  • Question: Hi i have the cameras installed already, but my dvr (ds-7204hqhi-f1) is this ok to use instead? ie same connections etc

    Answer: This is an NVR so the camera connections need to be ethernet RJ45. The DVR you already have, 7204HQHI uses cameras with a BNC connector. So no it isn't suitable for your existing cameras.
  • Question: Why is it so noisy? Any way to reduce this?

    Answer: If the noise is a whirring noise either from the fan or the hard drive, it cannot be quietened unless it is excessive noise. It usually sounds like a computer, as that is what it basically is similar to. These NVRs are not recommended to be placed near a TV or in a bedroom due to the noise. However, if it is louder than a computer, it is recommended to get it checked.
  • Question: Can you add a wifi camera to these NVRs?

    Answer: Yes, you can add a wifi camera to these NVRs. A WiFi network adapter is required.
  • Question: What’s the difference between an NVR and a DVR? For POE, does a standard Cat5 work okay or does it have to be a different cable?

    Answer: An NVR is a network video recorder that uses IP cameras and connects via ethernet RJ45. A DVR is a digital video recorder that uses analog cameras and connects via BNC connector. For POE (Power over Ethernet), a standard Cat5e cable works fine.
  • Question: What is the storage included with the NVR?

    Answer: I don’t think there is any storage included with the NVR. You would need to buy a separate hard drive.
